Surfing & Our Last Day

Every Friday & Saturday night they have a live band that comes to entertain they are GREAT

WE missed our little boy!!

Our last day at the pool/beach :(

Scott taking surfing lessons from a local

They are on there way out to catch a wave

Headed in for the day...

So surfing is nothing like wake surfing just if you were wondering. So Scott took lessons on Friday & we left on Saturday night. So on Saturday we just planned on being at the beach and packing our stuff. So Scott rented a surf board and headed out for the afternoon. He only rented it or an hour or two! So at 2.5 hours I started to get a little nervous. I went and asked if he had turned in his board and they said "no". So they gave me a pair of binoculars and I tried to find him. I think I did which calmed my nerves, but still, why hasn't he come back in!! Well 4 hours later he came in. I guess he was just having too much fun!!

WE love you Hawaii & hope to see you soon!!
What a GREAT vacation, Thanks Honey!!

Honolulu, Hawaii Part 2

We were so lucky to have Lindsey and her family to help tour us around. She is a friend from BLM back in the Burley day's. We have always remained good friends and now our family's are growing. Her little boy Jackson is 10 weeks old. They would come and pick us up and take us to where ever we wanted to go. Spoiled!! On Monday night Lauren made dinner and had us over to watch Monday night football, Scott was in heaven. GREAT Food too.
I was use to Lindsey picking us up in her purple ford explore,
but now they drive the surf machine.
My 1st look at Mr. Jackson. So cute!!
On the way to a beach we were going to too. I should of written down the name of the beach, but I didn't. Still beautiful. Thanks Lindsey for taking our picture. I was getting tired of just ones of Scott.

Our 1st body surfing lesson's. Pretty fun!!
Once we got to the Beach & set up camp.
It was Jackson's 1st trip.

This was the view from Lindsey's House of
down town Wikiki.
For dinner on Sunday we went to Teddy's which is a local favorite and famous for their burgers & fries, there are only two on the island. It was a pretty good burger.

BSU vs UH

What a photo!
(That's what you get when you have to take all the photos yourself)
There were sure lots of orange & blue
on the island (at our hotel) let alone in the stadium

field goal in action
All of the sudden from behind me I here my name called!! WHO would know me in Hawaii? It was a friend from HS. Shannn Aldrich Love!! How fun to see her, visit and catch up!! Thanks for getting my attention, she was there visiting her brother KC in the Coast Guard. It was nice meeting KC's wife Shannon too! GREAT recommend on the Dukes Dessert! Delicious!

How fun for all the players and fans to meet and say "thanks for supporting us". Lots of the players gave away gloves & sweatbands to the kids. They love it. I wanted something for Shaydon, but did luck out!

Are tickets in Hawaii were cheaper than at home on the blue!! CRAZY! We had front row seats on the northwest end zone. The only time it rained the whole trip was at the game and it was only a down pore for about 3 minutes and then stoped. Such GREAT weather. We had pizza for dinner at the stadium. They also serve beer and there were quite a few ignorant drunk people from Hawaii. We even got it dumped on us. We also got called out by a local younger guy, but we were lucky to be sitting by an Auntie who her son played at BSU when Scott did and she settled him right down. It was a fun experience and game even though we killed them.

Honolulu, Hawaii Part I

Our hotel

This was are view from our balcony!! BEAUTIFUL!!
See the young surfer in the chair? Ask Scott to repeat what he always is saying
every day on the beach!! (outrigger rides) so funny!!

Our 1st day on the island & the beach

Baywatch anyone? Hansom Hunk!

Here is the outrigger ride or party boat

After getting Shaydon settled with GM & GP Gerratt we left early in the morning for our flight. It went really well. I seem to take loner that I thought it would. We slept, ate, read our books, slept & listened to our ipods. I was so ready to get off the plane and was a little motion sick too. The throwing up didn't come until the bus/shuttle ride to the hotel. Poor Scott (I was the one throwing up) was so embarrassed, but I was really prepared with a bag and all I don't think anyone even knew.

5 countries in 11 days......

WOW...

We had such a GREAT time in Europe. Shaydon did so well on the 11 hour plane ride he even had his own seat. He slept 6 of the 11 hours and hardly fussed. I had to pull lots of tricks out of my bag though. It was nice to have so many nice people around us as well who were understanding and have been in my shoes! We had lots of complements on how well he did.
(Boise to SLC to Paris)

On the way home Shaydon was not as lucky to have his own seat, but we were seated in a block head with more leg room. So we made the best of it even though he only slept 2 of the 10 hours and man were we grateful for grandparents to which off with. Just like any trip it's bitter sweet we don't want to leave, but are excited to get home and that's no different for Shaydon. He totally knew we were on our way home and couldn't wait.
(Frankfurt to Paris to SLC to Boise)

The hardest thing about bringing a baby is the time change, it was 8 hours different and he is a very scheduled baby. Eat, play, sleep... repeat!! So the trip changed his schedule, but sooo worth it. We have gotten back into the swing of things and were so grateful for the opportunity to go to Europe with my family. Thanks dad for letting us go. We missed you though...

The exchange rate was $1.58 to 1 Euro. So the dollar is very weak. You would get a better exchange rate if you used your credit card and then when we got to Luxembourg Franck deposited our money into his bank and then with drew euros because he gets a better rate.

I have some pix I want to post, but they are on my mom and dad's camera and they don't know how to email them.

Frankfurt, Germany

7.10.08

  • Checked into the hotel
  • Had lunch at McDonald's so we could use the restroom for free and in Germany you can get free refills on your soda.
  • Went to the Frankfurt, Germany Temple arrive at 3:35pm and it closed at 3:30pm so we just took pix from the outside
  • Headed downtown for shopping and site seeing. Walked around for about 2 hours
  • Ate dinner at the Chinese/Thai restaurant.
  • This was one of the warmest days we had 80 degrees
Since I have been in the market for a stroller I was on the lookout to see what styles and brands they use and I only took pix of some of them. Quinny, McClaren, Storke, Bugaboo and some I didn't recognize. I did see one Phil and Teds sport which is the one I am getting (which is on order YEA!!!)

7.11.08
  • Woke up at 5:00am to check the shuttle to the airport
  • Had warm chocolate crescent rolls with OJ for breakfast

Nieuwpoort, Belgium

7.5.08

  • On the Drive there we stopped and got gas which was interesting. There gas stations are literally on the freeway. A very quick in and out.
  • Oh and you have to pay for the restroom around .50-.75 cents
  • We stayed at the Cosmopolite Hotel which was very nice and close to the North Sea and boardwalk.
  • Dinner was on the Boardwalk I had pasta that was pretty good. Lunch was on the road
  • We just walked around and window shopped because the stores were closed. The were having a festival, something to do with "witches" so there was a big bonfire and social gathering on the beach. So Pretty. They had fireworks once it got dark.
  • The weather was perfect mid 70's and over cast
  • Shaydon had a rough night and wouldn't stop crying, not like him. My dad ended up taking a walk with him down to the Beach and watched the fireworks and then came back and he was asleep in him arms. Although when he left he didn't take a key and so my mom thought he had been gone awhile and went outside and found him sitting on the bench hoping someone would come and let him in. Such a nice Grandpa. I was so tired I slept right through it.

7.6.08

  • Had Breakfast in the Hotel discovered Nutella, love it. It even comes in little 1 time servings like butter. I also love the hot coco, it's real chocolate and so rich makes ours in the states taste watered down.
  • Then traveled to Holland for the day
  • Had Breakfast in the Hotel quick, easy and good. Breakfast is only served until 9:30 am.

7.7.08

  • Shopped until 2:00pm bought mostly for Shaydon and Landon such cute kids clothes got him a new swim suite for next summer.
  • Traveled back to Lexumburge
  • Stopped at IKEA on the way home, it's my favorite place. Now I have been to one in Belgium, Seattle and SLC.

  • Went to the city park which had lots of toys and a water fountain for kids to play in

Paris, France

7.2.08

  • Took the metro to get around which was a 1st for everyone, but me.

  • Our first stop was the Eiffel Tower such an amazing structure

  • Then grandpa took Shaydon on his 1st carousel ride While the rest of us ate crapes with chocolate
  • Then it was off to The Sacré-Cœur Basilica "Basilica of the Sacred Heart" is a Roman Catholic basilica it is located on the highest point in Paris.

  • Went on a dinner boat ride up the Seine River which was beautiful to see all the sites we saw earlier that day, Mimi liked this because we didn't have to walk! The food was a 4 course meal that was delicious. We all tried lots of new things, including veal.
  • Had drinks at the corner cafe and people watched. When you order water it's either flat or sparkling and comes in a small or large bottle that you pour into a glass.
  • Our 1st night in the Kyriad Hotel I slept with Mimi and I think she wished she would of kept the ear plugs from the plane as Shaydon got up 3 times during the night. Which I thought was pretty good considering the time change, but Mimi didn't think so.

  • Breakfast was on the plane "gross". Lunch was at "touristy" restaurant not very good food, but like the onion soup. Dinner on the Boat I had the cantaloupe soup, veal, and citrus sorbet for dessert.

7.3.08

  • The Champs Elysees and the Notre Dame were our 2 stops for today

  • Don't forget the bakery on the corner for some bread and pastry's (couldn't get enough of the chocolate crescent rolls)

  • Loaded back into the Van that Franck borrowed from his work to hall us and our stuff back to Dudelange Luxembourg. About a 3 hour car ride through the green lush country, but not without some traffic. It was hard to stay awake some of the time because we were so tired, but we would miss out on our personal tour of the county side.
  • Mimi stayed at Sonya's house while Me, Shaydon, Mom and Dad slept at Franck's apartment which was down town Dudelange Luxembourg

  • Breakfast was at the Hotel buffet style(meat, cheese, breads, pastries, coffee, hot coco, OJ, fruit cocktail and prunes) Lunch at Dinner at McDonald's because nothing else was open. Most of the stores/restaurants close by 7:00pm and we got in late from France.

Our Trip to California

I had some frequent flyer miles I needed to use so Shaydon and I decided to go visit my aunt's Connie & Jae and my uncle Michael who have not yet meet Shaydon. Thanks to them for putting us up, playing, driving us around, entertaining and hanging out with us. Neither of my aunts have kids so it was an adventure for them and us being our first plane ride and trip longer than a weekend. Thanks to Scott for picking us up and helping us with our luggage since it doubled while we were gone. We love and missed you, sweetheart. I am sure my aunts are exhausted after we left they are going to need a nap!!! Thanks again.....

Shaydon did so good on the plane ride out to LA, I feed him as we took off and he never hinted like his ears hurt. I had an extra seat next to me which really helped. I was not as fortunate on the way back to Idaho. Although the gentleman next to me was very nice and understanding he has 5 kids himself. I learned a few things about traveling with a baby. Good & bad.

We had lunch in Malibu along with some shopping, went to the Ventura Beach and walked around watched the surfers, visited our friends that we meet in the BSU married student ward 7 years ago, they live in Upland California. Went to my favorite two stores that we don't have in Idaho IKEA and Trader Joe's. More shopping, juiced fresh lemons off their tree and then made fresh lemon cheesecake. Had lunch with their friends, showed them how to check our blog, got pedicures and most importantly spend time visiting!!!
